Painted this week. The hills are alive with great spring blossoms and new growth. Glad I got to get out on a day when the colors shown so brightly!

Way Up the Road

Late winter/ early spring found some snow with strong light. After traveling for a long time up Tolman Creek Rd., I realized I needed to paint soon, and quickly, before nightfall!

Floating By

Painted from life, I had to capture the clouds quickly. A bit larger than most of my work, it just takes me that much longer to complete.

Across the Street

Plein air painted from my front porch. Fluffy clouds, crystal blue sky, and the warm sun shining on the cypress tree is a scene I don’t see often enough.

Plein air painted from the vantage point of a friend’s property. I was facing towards the sun which created a slightly warm and diffused appearance of the scenery. It’s one I’m happy with; it depicts Oregon so well.

February Hills

The red twig dogwood shines like crazy in the sun. It’s crimson and flame colors don’t look real and yet they create a gorgeous color harmony in a winter landscape. The bright white of the snow on distant hills adds even more drama. Painted on location (of course)

Eel River Slough

Painted on location in Fortuna, CA. The cloud cover was breaking up and allowing the sun to glimmer on the water.

Oregon Winter Warmth

During a recent warm day I was able to get out to paint this lovely scene. Painted along the Bear Creek Greenway; the light was perfect, the sky was blue, the birds were singing, and I was too. A rare Oregon Winter’s day!

Umpqua River Autumn

The reflections in the water are what attracted me here. Standing on a footbridge looking upriver gave me the vantage point. I had to work quickly as the reflections were changing rapidly.
