Summer at the lake is perfect for painting on location! Painted late in the day the trees were catching the warm light while the lake retained its crisp cool color.

Olive Trees @ Ponds Edge

Plein air @ UC Davis Arboretum, earlier this month.

Painting the variations of greens and the ever changing pond reflections were the challenge here.

10″x8″ oil SOLD

Hot summer nights and great sunset glows. Painted this in a two part session. The glow on the hills only lasts for about 40 minutes. Needed more time than that to complete, so it was back again the next day at the same time.
